The Caralue Football Association was formed in 1926 with the foundation clubs being Pallinga, Caralue and Darke’s Peak Rovers. The Rovers were in fact the Darke’s Peak B grade team and played in the Caralue competition while their main team competed in the neighbouring Cleve Football Association.
In 1928, eight members of the Darke’s Peak Rovers were traveling by lorry to Pallinga to play the local team. The lorry capsized seven miles from Pallinga when its wheels locked in a sandy part of the road. The driver, Mr J Howard was the most serious of the injured needing to have two fingers amputated. A young girl, Lily Trimble received five stitches to a forehead wound. The remainder including the captain and vice captain of the team were badly bruised and scratched. As they were already running late, two cars were sent to meet them otherwise it would have been a fair while before help arrived.
In the final few years, the competition was known as the Central Football Association. The Darke’s Peak team was referred to as such until 1940 when they became known as Darke Peak.
