Northern zone, 1923 to 1962
In 1935 the competition was abandoned after the first round of matches when the Willow Plains club were unable to gather sufficient numbers to field a team. The remaining clubs, Hawker and Cradock agreed to play matches against each other at arranged times and they combined to play against teams from Quorn.
The Cradock Football Club was sometimes referred to in their official title as Wilson Cradock. The Hookina team included players from Copley 100 miles to the north and Eurelia some 50 miles south. Some members of the Hawker team were from Narina Station 100 miles north of Hawker. In 1962 there was an attempt to form a Hawker club from the remains of the Far Northern association and enter the Flinders association. Their application however was unsuccessful as Hawker was deemed too far to play matches by the majority of Flinders members. Carrieton then merged with Wilmington with at least three games a year played at Carrieton up until 1968.
