Murray Ranges

Barossa zone, 1922 to 1935

Formation

The Murray Ranges Football Association was formed in 1922 with the Cambrai Sedan, Keyneton, Springton and Mount Pleasant clubs as the founding members. The original president of the association was Mr George Sharp who had played 64 games for the Sturt Football Club some ten years prior.

The new association adopted the Barossa & Light constitution with some minor adjustments. Murray Ranges played the Torrens Valley association in a game at the end of their first season. It was generally thought that Murray Ranges would suffer a big defeat as Torrens Valley had seven strong clubs as opposed to Murray Ranges with just four. Murray Ranges lost narrowly with their bad kicking contributing to their downfall with a score of 5-25 to 8-18.
