When the Yackamoorundie association was disbanded at the beginning of the 1924 season, the Spalding Football Club had indicated an interest in joining the new Moorundie association. Instead, it was decided to split North and South Spalding into three even clubs and form the Spalding Football Association.
The Spalding association team played a combined team from the Booborowie association at Spalding in 1925 and were soundly defeated by 84 points. The game was played as part of the celebrations in conjunction with the laying of the foundation stone for the new Spalding Hospital. The return match a few months later was even more humiliating with Booborowie successful to the tune of 122 points.
In a bid to arrest the decline in the standard of Spalding football, the association made the decision to again pool all players into three new clubs – Wanderers, Rovers and Ramblers. Spalding joined the Booborowie association in 1927 so it is fair to say the decision to pool players was viewed as a failure.
