Formation
The Torrens Valley Football Association was formed in 1921 with the Birdwood, Gumeracha, Kersbrook, Houghton, Williamstown and Mount Pleasant clubs as founding members. Chain of Ponds had expressed interest in joining but dropped out just prior to the draw being made.
Grand final teams played for the Lambert Cup that required three winning premierships to retain it on a permanent basis. In lieu of the Sunday Mail medal not being presented after WWII, a Patrons medal was presented by Mr R McEwin. The winner of the medal in 1947 and 1948 was John Wilkey firstly in 1947 with Chain of Ponds and then with his new club Kersbrook in 1948. When the Mail Medal was restored in 1949, John tied for first place with Ivor Venning of Williamstown.
