West Coast zone, 1924 to 1938
The first match played in the area was between Yantanabie and Wirrulla in 1920. In 1921 Yantanabie had enough players to form two teams, Excelsiors (players who lived outside the dog fence) and Kangaroos (players who lived inside the dog fence).
The Western Flinders Football Association was formed in 1924 with Wirrulla, Yantanabie, Cungena and Poochera as the original members. Streaky Bay and Rovers attended the meeting but were not included in the original intake. In 1924 the remuneration for the association secretary was £7 and two cases of petrol.
