The Yakilowie Football Association was formed in 1914 by the Spalding and Booborowie clubs splitting into four new clubs, North and South Booborowie, Southern Stars and North Spalding. Southern Stars won the first premiership and the chairman of the league Mr Marron presented them with a magnificent oak and silver shield donated by Mr A G Hawkins.
A dispute erupted in 1921 over the clearance of Mount Bryan captain Francis Bernhardt to North Booborowie. South Booborowie and Southern Stars jointly protested that there was no clearance signed and if there was, it was lodged well after the July 1 deadline. This accusation was bitterly disputed by North Booborowie who then left the association, which basically brought the curtain down on the Yakilowie association.
